Message for Monday

Monday, September 28th, 2009

For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers, all things were created by Him and for Him. Colossians 1:16

Did you ever notice when you were reading a newspaper or a magazine, that a ‘byline’ appears on most of the stories, identifying the reporter or writer who authored the story? When I worked for a newspaper in the 1960s, my editor believed every story should carry a byline and that every reporter should be responsible to the public for what was written.  Fair enough, but what about the Author of creation?

Our text tells us that the Lord Jesus created everything. So is He responsible for the mess that so much of it is in today? Of course not! The Genesis account tells us that when God had finished the work of creation, He was able to declare that it was very good. He made this world and the entire universe without a flaw.  And He gave mankind the responsibility to look after the earth. We know that the mess if this world is a result of sin, and that we have failed miserably in handling the responsibility of caring for creation.  The masterpiece that God created has been so distorted and damaged that it is often hard for some people to see the byline of the Lord Jesus. The teaching of the nonsense of evolution – which every honest scientist admits is impossible – is evidence of the distance that man has dragged himself and all he touches from God’s original plan and design.

The good news is that the mess is going to be cleaned up. And I am not speaking about the push to eliminate greenhouse gas emissions; that’s a huge flop. For instance, Al Gore, who is making millions pushing his green agenda, lives in possibly the most energy inefficient house in the US. Such hypocrisy and greed are the hallmarks of man’s stewardship. As you listen to the issues about the environmental mess, remember, our Lord is the One who will – and the only one who can – remedy the situation.

Are you looking forward to the Millennium Reign? If so, remember, His reign has already begun in your life, so act accordingly today. -Jim MacIntosh
