A full-scale model of Noah’s ark exists in Williamstown, Kentucky, a project of an organization called Answers in Genesis. The organization opened the model to the public in July of 2016. It is a huge project, costing some 90 million dollars and is the first element of a theme park that is expected to attract more than a million people a year to the area. But the project has come under attacks from evolutionists, because Answers in Genesis supports the Biblical account of creation and the flood. The evolutionists insist the earth is billions of years old, not six thousand as Answers in Genesis claims, and they deny the creation account of the Bible and the record of a world-wide flood. They accuse Answers in Genesis of religious indoctrination and of discouraging students from taking an interest in ‘real’ science. By science, they mean their own nonsensical definition of it, of course. The evolutionists are entitled to their opinions, of course, as they are responsible before a God Who they deny exists for their rejection of His truth. But the news media covering the project and its controversies automatically take the side of the evolutionists, with reports that mock the biblical position of Answers in Genesis. So they are just as guilty as the evolutionist ‘scientists’. Unlike the Christians in Thessalonika, they do not accept the Bible as the Word of God.
The problem with the evolutionists is that they are too prejudiced against the Bible to even read the scientific work done by such honest organizations such as Answers in Genesis and Institute for Creation Research. But that was not the case with the Thessalonians when it came to the Gospel that was brought by Paul and the other missionaries. Those who were Jewish delved into the Old Testament and verified that the missionaries were telling the truth about Jesus Christ being the Messiah. Those who were Gentiles examined the teaching of the preachers carefully, and were convinced that these men were indeed carrying the truth of the Word of God. With all of the false doctrines and erroneous religious organizations about us today, we do well to examine our own attitude toward the Word of God, and confirm that it is not just the word of men.
Evolution is just one of the false doctrines that are rampant in the world today. We find a very tiny percentage of people around us actually accept the Bible as the Word of God, or who accept that its message is relevant to them. They are not interested in knowing what it says. You and I can become affected by this environment. Doubts can creep in, and attitudes can shift toward tolerance for the opponents of the truth of the Word of God. The devil likes it when that happens.
