And they that were sent went their way, and found even as He had said unto them. Luke 19:32
The more we examine the details of the colt that the disciples were to bring back to Jesus, the more amazed we are that He could have predicted its presence so accurately. He knew exactly the location of the colt, and that it had never been broken to riding. But it is not likely that the disciples were surprised. For three years, they had followed the Lord Jesus, and they had seen things that were even more impressive. In fact, if the colt had not been where He said it would be, they would have been shocked. They had come to know that their Lord knew things that they could not know, and they had come to know that He had never made a mistake, even in unlikely situations. They accepted and acted on His word. And that is what we should do. Because He has always been right about us.
We are saved today because we accepted what the Lord had to say about our past. He knew that we were helpless sinners in need of a Saviour, and He stepped into our experience to give us the deliverance that we needed. Although we rejected and despised him for too long, He was there when we realized our need and He accepted us. Our soul was saved, and we are His forever.
We are being saved today because He knows all about us. Our daily salvation depends on His faithfulness to us. As we strive in our Christian life to achieve deliverance from sin, we are often so weak and failing, but He never gives up on us. He knows we need spiritual nourishment, and He provides His Word with all that it contains for our spiritual health and encouragement. He knows that we need fellowship, so He provides the Lord’s people and the Assembly to sustain us. He knows we need strength, so the Holy Spirit dwells within and enables us to endure and thrive as Christians. Our spirits are being saved every day because He knows us.
And soon the time will arrive when we will be saved from the very presence of sin. The hope of His coming again for us is a powerful reminder that we soon shall be forever with the Lord. He has gone to prepare a place for us. Heaven will be far more than everything that we could ever hope for, because our Lord knows what will give us eternal delight. Nothing of our eternity with Him will be a disappointment.
